This Privacy Policy explains how CLINETRUST Ltd (RC 1959917) ("Dehooks", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use the Dehooks platform. We process personal data in accordance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act and applicable regulations. By using Dehooks, you consent to the practices described here.

1. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Account data — name, email, phone number, password (stored encrypted), and account type.
  • Profile data — the information and media you choose to add: photos, videos, bio, location, physical attributes, and service details.
  • Identity verification data — for service providers, a government-issued ID document and a verification selfie. This is sensitive personal data and is treated with heightened protection (see section 4).
  • Usage data — pages viewed, searches, profiles viewed, likes, and interactions, used to operate and improve the service.
  • Payment data — processed by our payment provider. We receive confirmation and a transaction reference; we do not store your full card details.
  • Technical data — IP address, device and browser information, and cookies necessary for the service to function.

2. How we use your data

  • To create and operate your account and display your profile;
  • To verify the identity and age of service providers;
  • To enable messaging, contact, and interactions between users;
  • To process membership payments;
  • To operate safety, moderation, and fraud-prevention systems;
  • To personalise recommendations and improve the platform;
  • To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

3. Legal basis for processing

We process your data on the basis of your consent (which you may withdraw), the performance of our contract with you (to provide the service), our legitimate interests (safety, fraud prevention, and improving the platform), and legal obligations where they apply.

4. Identity documents — special handling

Government-issued ID documents and verification selfies are stored in a private, access-controlled store, separate from public profile media. They are never shown on your public profile and are never shared with other users. Only authorised reviewers can access them, and only for verification. We retain these documents only for as long as necessary for verification and legal compliance, after which they are deleted. This data is never served from our public content network.

5. What is visible to others

Your public profile — including the name, photos, videos, and details you add — is visible to other users according to your visibility settings. Your email, phone number, and ID documents are never shown publicly. A WhatsApp contact number is shown only if you choose to add one and select who can see it.

6. Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

  • Service providers who help us operate — hosting, storage, content delivery, and payment processing — under confidentiality obligations;
  • Law enforcement or regulators where required by law or to protect users from harm;
  • Other users, limited to the public profile information described above.

7. Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records (for example, transaction records or ID verification logs) to meet legal obligations.

8. Your rights

Under Nigerian data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct inaccurate data;
  • Request deletion of your data;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Withdraw consent at any time;
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

9. Security

We use technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, access controls, and separate private storage for sensitive documents. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and to notify you and the relevant authority of any breach as required by law.

10. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the platform to function (such as keeping you signed in) and to understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling some may affect functionality.

11. Children

Dehooks is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn that we hold data belonging to a minor, we will delete it immediately and terminate the account.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the platform. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
